Education
New Member Orientation
Only Realtor members are required to take orientation. Affiliate members are encourage to attend, but are not required. Each two-hour class provides a history of CIBOR, NAR and NHAR, and explains the REALTOR® code of ethics.
In order to be a NHCIBOR member, it is mandatory to attend NHAR orientation alongside the NHCIBOR orientation. The NHAR orientation covers the Quadrennial Code of Ethics of NAR.
Core Courses
NHCIBOR sponsors the mandatory Core Course four times per year at NHAR in Concord. The Core Course is the mandatory renewal course for all New Hampshire real estate licensees. It is taught by a practicing commercial real estate broker and focuses on how the laws and rules apply to commercial brokerage.
Electives
The first three Quarterly Meetings of each year include an educational component. These meetings are approved for 2-3 hours of continuing education elective credits.
Professional Development Series
The Professional Development Series is a great tool that is provided to our members and affiliates. Each session is free to members and provides a continuing education opportunity for our entire membership. Sessions feature top industry professionals and cover topics ranging from law to construction to technology. These sessions are managed by the Education Committee and typically provide continuing education credits for attendees.
The Professional Development Series sessions are held throughout the year. Check the Events Calendar for up-to-date listing and information on these events.
This series is organized by the Education Committee, but is fueled by the collaboration within our member base. We look to our members to advise us on topics they would like offered, and we look to our affiliates to share their expertise on relevant topics that they would enjoy speaking on. Please reach out to the Education Committee Chair with any suggestions.
Advocacy and Legislation
NHCIBOR collaborates with NHAR to provide members with active and informed legislative advocacy. Our Governmental Affairs Committee consists of realtors who volunteer their time alongside their knowledge and interest in governmental affairs and public policies that impact commercial real estate and economic development. This Committee utilizes the services of an on-staff Government Affairs Director and engages the services of a lobbyist firm.
A summary of federal, state and local issues and legislative resources can be found on our Advocacy page.
NHCIBOR Governmental Affairs Committee:
The Governmental Affairs Committee focuses on monitoring statewide legislation; keeping the state association directors informed on proposed governmental actions being considered; assisting in the drafting of policies and or legislation affecting commercial real estate issues; and raising funds for Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) and Issues Mobilization Fund (IMF).
Recent Issues:
The NHCIBOR Governmental Affairs Committee has worked with issues regarding real estate transfer tax, workforce housing (“i.e. affordable housing”), land use, health insurance, eminent domain, rent control, and tenants in common property ownership.
